All mentors are teachers, all
mentors are learners,
but not all teachers are
mentors.
CUALLI TONALLI!
Did you know that words like tomato, guacamole, shack, chocolate and coyote are borrowed from the Nahuatl, the language spoken by Aztecs. In fact, the word avocado is the Nahuatl word for testicle. Don't think about that when you're eating guacamole though.
Poem by Antonio Machado
Translated by Ron Green
The courtyard ignited with orange
globular fruit and giggles,
Little tremors from uniforms
dispersing chaos from school,
cooling the air of the plaza with
delightful shade of new voices
Puerile joy in the nooks
of dead cities! . . .
And something from our bygones
that still haunt these old streets!
